Softcover. Condition: Very good, with very light shelfwear to covers. Binding sound, no inscriptions. Many b/w illustrations. The French artist Bonnard, in 1906 and 1907, made over one hundred brush and chinese ink drawings to illustrate Octave Mirbeau's imaginative account of a series of journeys which he made in his 1904 four-cylinder Charron Giardot & Voigt (CGV). It is believed to be the first book about a motor car journey illustrated by a great artist. The show (arranged by Richard Nathanson and held at The Fine Art Society London from November 13th to December 2nd, 1978) which this catalogue was produced to accompany was the first time the drawings had ever been exhibited.
