Slightly more wear to head and tail of spine. Front pastedown bears the bookplate of James Bertram Falkner Cartland, the father of the novelist Barbara Cartland. Light browning and foxing to endpapers. Binding sound. 176pp. plus subscribers list and some announcements and period advertisements to rear. Many b/w illustrations. The book includes sections on Birmingham including photographers, health, the brassfoundry industry (of which the firm of James Cartland & Son was one of the most important), the homes of the makers of Birmingham, including Pitmaston, the home of Sir John Holder, electric and gas lighting. Scarce.
